We manage a thriving commercial herd of 1,000 Boran cattle and 600 Dorper sheep. The Boran breed boasts excellent fertility, disease resistance, longevity, adaptability, and high-quality carcasses, making them a valuable genetic addition to any herd. Boran cows have exceptional udders, produce enough milk to wean calves at over 50% of their dam’s weight, and possess a strong maternal instinct that helps deter predators. Our Boran cattle provide premium grass-fed beef and resilient breeding bulls that are well-suited to the harsh conditions of eastern Africa.
Dorper sheep are prized for their early maturity, high fertility, low maintenance, robust health, and high-quality meat, making them ideal for profitable small-scale farming. Their adaptability and efficiency make them an attractive option for farmers aiming to maximize returns. Both Boran cattle and Dorper sheep are recognized as superior breeds for cross-breeding programs, thanks to their hardiness, fertility, and hybrid vigor.
At Manyara Ranch, we run an annual community livestock improvement program (breeding more than 400 cows each year) using our quality Boran bulls and artificial insemination to enhance the productivity of community cattle in terms of milk and meat traits, thereby increasing their market value. We also sell breeding bulls and beef steers to various customers in Arusha and neighboring regions.
